Located on the north side of museum road across from lake alice, the barn and house provide a dwelling for more than 350,000 brazilian free-tailed bats. Visitors flock to the area at sunset to see the bats emerge to feed on the water at the lake and flying bugs.

Lake alice is stretched 129 acres. It is an open marsh system that provides habitats for wildlife and an outdoor classroom for students to learn about natural florida watershed systems.
